Routing Guide Compliance
We monitor the selection of carriers by your vendors, third parties and your own shipping departments. This information allows you to control and reduce your transportation expense.
The improper selection of a carrier by a vendor violates the terms of your purchase orders that require the use of carriers specified in your routing guide. Most corporations charge back the cost of non-compliance (and for some, an additional fee of $50.00 to $250.00 for having to handle an extra carrier at your dock). To facilitate this process, we load your routing guide using zip code pairs, modes, weight breaks and preferred carriers into our system.
Non-compliance reporting is offered on collect and for prepaid movements to identify maverick spending.
For each shipment we:
- Apply a systematic routine where the preferred carrier is determined by reading the origin zip, destination zip, mode, and weight
- Compare the preferred carrier to the actual carrier used
- Identify non-compliant carrier utilization
- Re-rate these shipments using the preferred carriers’ rates
- Generate a file containing the key actual shipment information, including the preferred carrier, the rate had the preferred carrier been used and the cost to the business as a result of the non-compliant shipment, this report will include the supplier company name and the origin city/state
This proven system ensures your selected carriers are used and allows you to collect the cost of non-compliance.
Additionally, we have the ability to submit a file feed to your accounts payable system that will automatically debit your supplier’s next invoice for the additional costs incurred as a result of the non-compliant shipment.
This is a service that more than pays for itself.
